From Our Pastor
One of the best things we did last year was an adventure called The Advent Conspiracy. This was an emphasis that lasted through the Advent season in which we focused on the meaning of Jesus coming in the flesh to live among us.
We celebrated His coming and joined as a church family for three projects to aid those in need. We purchased water wells for Maasai tribes in Kenya, packed food for hungry children around the world, and participated in a local program for hungry kids called Bottomless Backpacks. All this, and we had joy!
Another big happening during the year was the beginning of a process called the Vision Pathway. Twelve people were chosen as a cross-section of our congregation. These twelve people began to meet for day-long periods of prayer and discussion to affirm God’s previous work through the church and chart a course for our future direction. So far, we have heard God’s “missional mandate” for us: Engaging all generations to fully rely on God every day. By this, we are emphasizing that CCF continues to be an intergenerational body, and we continue to reach our community which is also highly “generational.” In addition, we seek to reach people in our area who are highly self-reliant, calling them to the answer for the emptiness in their hearts: God-reliance! And what will it take for us to bring this message? Our own full-reliance on God! This mission has a double meaning; not only is it what God is offering through us, but it is also what we are called to be!
The Vision Pathway Team is still meeting. In coming months, we expect these things to emerge: a clear statement of our values; an articulation of our strategy; and a vision for the kinds of things that we will celebrate in the future. All that is being formulated inside of us through God’s love and power.
So I sense that CCF has something new about to emerge. Just like a little plant that is sprouting from the ground, God is birthing something new and unique. God continues to call people all around us to Himself, and He invites His people to participate in this exciting mission.
With an expectant heart,
Pastor Brian
